Bonny Reid, M.S.W., I.B.C.L.C.
Bonny Reid is an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and 2011 graduate of the UNC School of Public Health's Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative in Lactation. She holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work from Meredith College and a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She grew up in Raleigh and worked for nearly a decade providing STD/HIV education and counseling to individuals and groups in various clinical settings. It was her own transition to motherhood in 2006 that ignited her passion for providing comprehensive and compassionate care to expectant and new parents through birth and breastfeeding education and support. In 2008, Bonny became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, a labor and birth doula, and taught childbirth and breastfeeding classes for WakeMed Health and Hospitals for many years. She also had the honor and privilege of helping to create the WakeMed Breastfeeding Support Group program and was the lead facilitator of the Cary/Apex meetings for over 4 years. She has spent thousands of hours assisting and empowering pregnant, laboring and breastfeeding families and is truly honored to be a part of this special time in their lives. She joined Western Wake Pediatrics in 2012 and strives to provide families with the gentle support they deserve combined with the confidence and skills they desire to meet their personal breastfeeding goals. Bonny is available for individual appointments 5 days a week, hosts our monthly Bosom Buddies Support Group for breastfeeding/pumping moms, and offers a Breastfeeding 101 class for expectant parents.
When she is not working with other families, she enjoys spending time with her own. She particularly looks forward to spending occasional weekends with her husband, daughter, son, and two dogs at one of the many beautiful camping locations North Carolina has to offer!
