Natalie B. Austin, M.D.
Dr. Austin practiced pediatrics in Roxboro, NC, and Hillsborough, NC, before joining Western Wake Pediatrics in 2016.
She went to medical school with the intention of becoming a family doctor, but the preventive aspects of pediatrics won her heart. Though able to diagnose and treat diseases, Dr. Austin most enjoys working with families to proactively prevent diseases when possible. Vaccinations are a critical component of preventive medicine. She greatly values the relationships that are built over time and particularly enjoys partnering with patients and families on problems such as obesity, asthma, constipation, and disordered sleep.
Growing up in Mississippi as the second of four daughters, Dr. Austin is used to the busyness that life brings. After being a competitive runner in high school and college, she still enjoys running for fun as well as many other outdoor activities, including gardening, hiking, photographing nature, and watching birds.
Dr. Austin and her husband came to UNC for residencies in pediatrics and internal medicine, respectively. They have fallen in love with the area and now call North Carolina home. They enjoy spending time with their daughter, family, and friends as well as enjoy cooking, being outdoors, and playing with their dog.
