We see patients with illnesses of a few hours up to two days on a first come, first served basis from 8 - 8:30am Monday through Thursday. All other visits are scheduled up to four months in advance from 8am through 5pm Monday through Friday. We have many appointments available for sick visits the same day you call including Saturday morning. We try to schedule your appointment as early in the day as possible so that we can accommodate requests that come in later. We strive to help you at the appointed time, however, we will take the time needed to fully evaluate the problem presented to us, and regret if that results in a wait for you. In an effort to meet our appointment obligations, we will ask that sick siblings have their own appointment. Also, patients who are ill at the time of a scheduled well check up may be asked to reschedule the check up in order to have time to address the illness.
We request twenty-four hours notice on cancellations. Failure to provide appropriate notice will result in a no show fee of $35.00. If you must cancel a sick visit the same day you made the appointment, please call as soon as possible so that we may offer that appointment to someone else. If you arrive more than fifteen minutes late for a check up, you will be asked to reschedule. This policy helps us avoid major delays later in the day.
Telephone Calls During Office Hours / After Hours Calls
We have experienced nurses available to provide advice during our regular Monday through Friday office hours. They can help you decide whether your child needs to be seen, as well as answer some common questions. To reach our advice nurse, please call 919 859-9991 and press option 3. After leaving a message, your call will be returned in the order of medical priority. Please note, our advice line is not available between 12:30 - 1:30pm, Monday through Friday.
After 5pm and on holidays and weekends, the caller will be directed to our answering service and offered the option of either speaking to the physician on call or be transferred to a pediatric advice nurse. Please be advised that there is a $12.00 fee for using the pediatric advice nurse service. The after hours nurse cannot make or cancel appointments, renew prescriptions or provide lab results. Please call again if your call has not been returned in 30 minutes. If you are having trouble connecting to the office, the direct number to the answering service is 1-919-230-9315.
Should you be instructed to go to an urgent care center or the hospital, we ask that you inform them that Western Wake Pediatrics is your primary care provider. This will ensure that we are provided comprehensive patient information from outside facilities such as test/lab results, medications, treatment plans and any additional medical information necessary in order to maintain the continuity of care for your child.
ADD/ADHD & Other Prescriptions
Requests for prescription refills should be made during our regular office hours, Monday through Friday. When calling our office during this time, you will be directed to our automated nurse line where you will be requested to leave pertinent information as it relates to fulfilling your request. ADD/ADHD medications are not considered emergency medications. Please allow up to three working days for us to complete your request. There will be a $10 service charge for same day requests payable upon request. Prescription requests will not be handled over the weekend or on a holiday. We require regular office visits for reevaluation of chronic or recurrent conditions such as asthma or ADD/ADHD.
Please be advised that we do not call in antibiotics without having seen your child.
Fees & Payments
Full payment or your insurance co-payment is required at the time of service. If you are uninsured or experiencing financial difficulties, please ask to speak with a member of our billing team or the practice manager to make special payment arrangements. We are here to help you. View Payment Agreement Form

Our physicians have hospital privileges at WakeMed Cary and Rex Healthcare.
We believe that all children should receive immunizations according to the guidelines provided by the AAP and the CDC to protect against contagious diseases that may cause serious long-term and potentially life-threatening health consequences. Vaccines are one of the safest and best methods of disease prevention.
As of January 2019, Western Wake Pediatrics will no longer accept any new families who chose not to vaccinate their children.
New families to Western Wake Pediatrics after January 1, 2019 who:
- Choose not to vaccinate → we are not accepting these patients
- Choose to vaccinate on a delayed/alternative schedule →
- Prior to any sick visits or checkups, caregiver is required to meet with a provider to discuss and complete an Alternative Vaccine Schedule Agreement.
- Additional visits separate from the well-child checkup will be needed if the previously agreed upon schedule is altered.
- Vaccinations must be started by/at the 12 month checkup
- Recommended vaccines from birth to age 2 must be completed by 35 months. Failure to meet this goal will result in termination from our practice.
Families established at Western Wake Pediatrics before January 1, 2019:
- We will continue to work with you to optimize care for your child
- If you follow a delayed/alternative vaccine schedule and have an established and signed Alternative Vaccine Schedule Agreement on file with WWP, we will continue to follow that plan. Additional visits may be required if the previously agreed upon schedule is altered.
- If you follow a delayed/alternative vaccine schedule and have not completed an Alternative Vaccine Schedule Agreement with a provider and do not have this on file with WWP, you will be required to have an additional visit separate from the well-child checkup to do so. Additional visits may be required if the previously agreed upon schedule is altered.
We understand that there is conflicting information available about immunizations and that you want to do the best for your child. Our providers are happy to discuss any questions or concerns about vaccinations and direct you to reliable sources of information, such as these. We pride ourselves in partnering with families to provide the best care for their children in a family-centered environment.
